The Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District supports the following charities:
At the Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation, they want families to focus on getting their child better because fighting cancer is not easy. That is why NNCCF takes care of the little things so they can do just that. NNCCF gives assistance for medical copays, mortgage or rent, travel for treatment, household utilities and so much more so that families can focus on what matters most, getting their child healthy. Visit https://nvchildrenscancer.org/ for more information.
Every year, our Local 2441 and staff support the St. Baldrick's Foundation events in our area. The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long, healthy lives. Each year, TDFPD members raise money to have their heads shaved. At the 2017 event in Carson City, donations were made for Chief Baker to have his head shaved, and he raised $1,170 to help fund lifesaving cancer research.
With IAFF Local 2441, the Fire District supports Christmas Cheer as a drop off for holiday food donations as Santa's Helpers to provide toys, and on the first, second, and fourth Friday of every month to load food donations at the Our Lady of Tahoe church parking lot at 9:00 am.
Christmas Cheer is a California licensed, non-profit corporation, under the leadership of a community Board of Directors and funded solely by donations from the community, for the community.
Located at 1120 Third St, South Lake Tahoe, CA, the Christmas Cheer mission is to provide an emergency food pantry to assist individuals and families until they can help themselves.
