Tahoe Douglas SWAT Medics are professional firefighters and paramedics who have the additional Special Operations duty of being assigned to the Douglas County Sheriff’s SWAT Team. They are POST Certified Reserve Sheriff’s Deputies who have been specifically selected and trained for this additional role.
The training pipeline of a SWAT Medic consists of a total of over 750 formal hours of additional medical and tactical training covering a wide swath of topics. They participate in all SWAT trainings and calls for service. They are provided with specialized equipment and tools to perform their duties at austere and often hostile scenes.

Mission Ready SWAT Medics
Tahoe Douglas SWAT Medics have trained and operated with various Local, State, and Federal agencies and have been assigned to Secret Service Presidential details. SWAT Medics often perform their duties as the sole Fire District representative on SWAT controlled scenes.
Additionally, Tahoe Douglas SWAT Medics oversee and perform the tactical medicine and active shooter trainings to all Tahoe Douglas personnel as well as to neighboring agencies.
